‘I miss you terribly’: Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie pay tribute to their ‘beloved grandma’ Queen Elizabeth II

Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie shared a statement saying, “You were our matriarch, our loving hand on our back, guiding us through this world.”

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM: Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie have sincerely thought of their late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. In a note to “our dearest grandma,” the sisters thanked the monarch for her warmth and kindness.

Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, aged 34 and 32 respectively, said in a joint statement: “We have not been able to put much into words since you all left us. There were tears and laughter, silence and gossip, hugs and loneliness. and a collective loss to you, our beloved Queen and beloved Grandma.”

The British monarch died on September 8 at her home in Balmoral, Scotland, aged 96. The sisters said: “We thought, like many others, that you would be here forever. our loving hand on our back, guiding us through this world. You taught us so much and we will cherish those lessons and memories forever.”

The statement continued: “Right now dear grandma, all we want to say is thank you. Thank you for making us laugh, for welcoming us, for picking heather and raspberries, for marching soldiers for our teas, for comfort, for joy. You will never know the impact you have had on our family and on so many people around the world.”

The sisters, daughters of the Queen’s third child Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, added: “The world mourns the loss of you and the tributes would really make you smile. You’re all too true of the remarkable leader you’re back with grandpa. Goodbye dear grandma, it was the honor of our lives to have been your granddaughters and we are so very proud of you.”

The sisters also paid tribute to the newly crowned King Charles. They said: “We know that dear Uncle Charles the King will continue to follow your example as he too dedicated his life to service. God save the king. With our love, Beatrice and Eugenie.”

The sisters were on good terms with their grandparents, the Queen and Prince Philip, who were able to witness their weddings before they died. Princess Eugenie married Jack Brooksbank in October 2018 in a televised ceremony at St George’s Chapel in Windsor.

Princess Beatrice and husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi were married during lockdown in July 2020 at the Royal Chapel of All Saints, Royal Lodge in Windsor. The bride wore a dress loaned to her by the Queen and the exact tiara from her wedding in 1947.

Meanwhile, the Queen’s funeral will be held at 4 p.m. on September 19. Several politicians and royal dignitaries from around the world are expected throughout the weekend.
