TSUNAMI warnings have been issued after a major earthquake struck parts of Crete.
Warnings have been issued for Heraklion and Sitia after seismologists recorded a magnitude six tremor in the area.

“Earthquake (#σεισμός) M6.0 occurred 60 km northeast of #Siteía (#Greece) 20 minutes ago (01:25:00 local time),” tweeted the Independent Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC).
“Get away from the shore and reach a higher place. Follow the instructions of the national authorities.”
The earthquake is said to have struck at 01:25 local time and struck at a depth of 80 km (49.71 miles), EMSC said.
