Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar are both successful actors who have been married for over two decades. But while they share their profession, the celebrity couple “does everything differently,” according to Prinze.
Prinze and Gellar met while filming the 1997 slasher film in the late ’90s. I know what you did last summer. They made the sequel from 1998, I still remember what you did last time Summer, and remained friends until they started dating in 2000.
The couple made two more films together – Scooby Doo (2002) and Scooby-Doo: Monsters Unleashed (2004). Gellar also had a cameo appearance in Princess’ rom-com, She is everything.
Prinze and Gellar got engaged in February 2001 and married in September 2002. They have two children, a daughter born in 2009 and a son born in 2012.
When he talks about his 2022 Netflix vacation movie, Christmas with youPrinze revealed that his 13-year-old daughter is interested in an acting career.
And by returning to film, he wanted her to see what the experience was like.
But the 46-year-old also noted that while he and Gellar are both veteran actors, everyone approaches things differently. And he suggested his daughter should see every aspect of the profession before taking the plunge.
“It wasn’t until my daughter became interested in performing that my wife and I decided to take a more active role in our career and show her what we think is important to succeed in this business,” Prinze told Tudum.
“[My wife] and I approach everything differently,” he explained. The actor cited “success,” “rejection,” and “preparation” as examples. “We wanted our daughter to see both sides, so she could decide what works for her and what doesn’t,” adds Prinze.
Prinze and Gellar might approach things differently. But according to Prinze, their initial friendship taught the two to embrace their differences. And that’s one of the reasons they had such a successful marriage.
“We were just friends for a good two years before we ever dated,” Prinze told E! News 2017. “She knew what kind of guy I was. She knew what my morals were, what my priorities were and vice versa. We already knew all of the other person’s faults.”
“In the end we were the perfect balance,” he added. “But it didn’t happen until years later and a solid foundation was laid, and that’s probably the main reason we’ve always been cool and groovy.”
