The boy’s name is Jack Anthony Alphonsus, after Dec’s late father, Alphonsus Donnelly, and his longtime presenting partner, Ant McPartlin

Declan Donnelly and his wife Ali Astall announced the birth of their second child, a newborn boy, just two weeks after the unexpected death of his older brother. The TV presenter revealed they have dubbed the boy Jack Anthony Alphonsus in an Instagram picture shared with fans on Sunday night after they confirmed the surprise delivery.

The newborn’s name honors both Dec’s father Alphonsus Donnelly of Northern Ireland, who died in 2011 after a battle with cancer, and Ant McPartlin, Dec’s longtime presenting partner. According to the Daily Mail, Dec and Ali’s first child, Isla Elizabeth Anne, was born in August of the same year, marking her first milestone in the family.

Friends and fans congratulate Dec and Ali

Donnelly shared the good news with a cute photo on Ant and Dec’s joint Instagram account. The post reads: “Just before 10am yesterday 7/23/2022, Ali and I gave a very warm welcome to the arrival of our son Jack Anthony Alphonsus, Ray of Light. He’s wonderful and Isla is super excited to be a big sister!”

The image Donnelly shared showed his young son’s hand wrapped around one of his fingers. Born in 2018, Isla Elizabeth Anne is the couple’s daughter. Donnelly married his wife Ali Astall in 2015.

Shortly after Donnelly posted the picture of his baby boy on Instagram and Twitter, several fans and celebrities left congratulatory messages in the comments section.

Love Island presenter Laura Whitmore wrote: “Happy for you both! Congratulations.” Popular video artists Woody & Kleiny wrote, “Happy birthday to you.”

One fan wrote on Twitter: “Omg this is just absolutely amazing wonderful news I am absolutely in shock and totally aww!!
