Daniel Lissing starring in a new Christmas film that will air this Christmas season

Daniel Lissing, who played Jack in “When Calls the Heart”, will star in a new Christmas film in 2021. However, this film will not premiere on The Hallmark Channel. Instead, it is broadcast on a competing network called the GAC Family.

According to a press release released by GAC Media, Daniel Lissing and Sara Canning will direct a film about GAC Family entitled “A Christmas Star”. The film will premiere on December 12th at 8 p.m. East / Pacific.

The synopsis reads:

Brad Krevoy, Amanda Phillips, Eric Jarboe, Jimmy Townsend, Mike Moran, Daniel Lissing, Susie Belzberg Krevoy, Doran Chandler, and Cara Russell are executive producers. Costa Vassos is the producer. Directed by Stacey N. Harding based on an original screenplay by Ross Mihalko, Lorie Hope and Bob Saenz.

GAC Media has already announced that Lissing will play a secret role in the two-part premiere of the second season of “When Hope Calls” on December 18th. “When Hope Calls” is a spin-off from Hallmarks “When Calls the Heart”. It was originally on The Hallmark Channel’s streaming network, but the new season will air on GAC Family.

Part 1 of the second season will air on Saturday, December 18, at 8 p.m. East / Pacific. Part 2 will air immediately after Part 1 on Saturday, December 18 at 9 p.m. Eastern / Pacific.

Lissing told ET Online that his role in When Hope Calls will be announced on October 11th.

Lissing portrayed Jack in When Calls the Heart and his character died.

Heavy previously reported that Loughlin was repeating her role as Abigail in the two-part premiere opener. Brian Bird is still slated as executive producer for the new season despite moving to a new network.

Bill Abbott, former CEO of The Hallmark Channel, launched two new channels (GAC Family and GAC Living) under the umbrella of GAC Media on September 27, according to a press release published on LinkedIn.

On October 16 at 8 p.m. Eastern, the GAC Family will broadcast a Christmas special entitled “Welcome to Great American Christmas,” hosted by Cameron Mathison and Debbie Matenopoulos. The special was originally scheduled to air on October 24th, but has been postponed for a week.
