While some fans called her a “pure soul,” people pointed out that all royals, including Prince Charlotte, were crying too

LONDON, UK: The internet is divided over claims by Meghan Markle’s supporters that the Duchess of Sussex was the only member of the royal family to weep at Queen Elizabeth’s funeral. During the emotional ceremony at Westminster Abbey on Monday September 19, Prince Harry’s wife was spotted wiping away tears. A fan named ‘SussexDetective’ snapped a screenshot of it and wrote on Twitter: “Meghan is the only one who cried for the Queen…. Really sums it all up.”

“Meghan and Harry have both always maintained that they deeply respect the Queen and have had a wonderful relationship with her and that the Queen has always been very good to them. She’s crying because the Queen was probably the only person who was kind to her,” noted another user. The remark sparked outrage on Twitter, as other fans sent pictures of the royals visibly crying. Pictures from the momentous occasion showed young Princess Charlotte sobbing in public and King Charles’ eyes filling with emotion as he gazed at his mother’s coffin at the Abbey. When Catherine, Princess of Wales arrived in the abbey’s funeral procession, she was clearly trying to hold back tears as her eyes were swollen with grief.

‘Tears for Gan-Gan’: Internet is melting over Princess Charlotte crying at Queen’s funeral

“There’s something extremely hypocritical about Meghan’s ‘crying’. Mourning the loss of the head of an institution and the matriarch of a family she and her husband have pushed through the mud for the past two and a half years. A woman whom they did not want to see just days before she died,” added another user . According to the Daily Mail, Meghan was also struggling as the Queen’s coffin left the Abbey en route to Windsor Castle, where she met Prince Philip will be buried.Prior to this, shortly after the Queen’s death, Harry posted a statement he shares with Meghan on the Archewell website. The statement read: ‘By celebrating the life of my grandmother, Her Majesty the Queen – and around mourning her loss – we are all reminded of the guiding compass she was for so many in their commitment to service and duty.”

“She was admired and respected around the world. Grandma, while we are deeply saddened by this final goodbye, I am forever grateful for all of our first encounters – from my earliest childhood memories of you, to my first encounter with you as my Commander-Chief, to the first moment when you were my beloved wife and hugged her beloved great-grandchildren. I appreciate this time together with you and the many other special moments in between. You are already sorely missed, not only by us, but by all around the world. And as for the first meetings, we now honor my father in his new role as King Charles III,” the statement added.

The internet reacted quickly to the user’s tweet. One person said, “People just saying anything about this app lmaooo I can’t.” Another said, “Ahh she was crying… pure soul. If only they cared about you that much, Meghan.” A third, who was definitely not a fan of Meghan, said: “She’s crying because she won’t have her little treasure anymore. Shame on Meghan’s trash. She has made money with the Queen and the royal family. I don’t believe her crocodile tears.” Another person who criticized the tweet said. “There’s something extremely hypocritical about Meghan “crying”. She’s mourning the loss of the head of an institution and the matriarch of a family that she and her husband are in through the mud for the last two and a half years. A woman who died a few days before her death refused to visit her.”
