A former winner of “The Bachelor” has revealed that she was in talks almost a decade ago to compete on “Dancing With the Stars,” but her then-fiancé had a problem with it.
In an interview on She’s All Bach podcast, Courtney Robertson, the “villain” who became the “winner” of Ben Flajnik’s season on the ABC dating show, announced that she was shortly after winning Flajnik’s Heart.
“I would have loved to do that,” the model admitted, revealing that she was told she could choose her dance music and design her costumes. She even drank the salary that was offered to her for the ABC dance-off.
Robertson announced that she would have received $ 150,000 just for signing up, then an additional “$ 30,000 or something” for every week she stayed in the competition.
While she was “excited” to join the show, Robertson admitted that the cast for that season was largely fixed when she was approached. She also had another problem: Flajnik.
“He said, ‘If you do, you won’t have a fiancé,'” said Robertson.
It was rumored that Robertson was added to the cast of DWTS Season 14 at the last minute in 2012. Before the premiere, a show representative shyly teased the point of sale: “We don’t comment on casting rumors. You have to tune in on Monday and see. “
Robertson was a no-show, and the cast ended with celebrities like Sherri Shepherd, Gavin Degraw, Gladys Knight, Maria Menounos, Martina Navratilova, Jack Wagner, Melissa Gilbert, and more from The Hollywood Reporter.
During the same period, “Bachelor” host Chris Harrison speculated that Robertson and Flajnik were on the rocks.
“Now I keep getting asked, ‘Will they last?’” He told Entertainment Weekly in March 2012. “The truth of the matter is I don’t know. I know it was a rocky road for both of them, but what happens from now on is up to them. “
Robertson and Flajnik finally split up in October 2012, E! There was news then.
While Robertson says she was approached and had serious conversations with DWTS producers, former “Bachelorette” star JoJo Fletcher announced that she was not allowed to do so because of her contract with the rose-filled reality franchise. According to People, in an Instagram story earlier this year, Fletcher told fans, “I was supposed to be doing @DancingABC after my bachelorette season but ended up being unable to fulfill my contract. Wum, Wum. “
And her colleague Kaitlyn Bristowe once claimed that “Bachelor” creator Mike Fleiss prevented her from joining DWTS.
“Actually, I was offered it, had the contract and Mike Fleiss told me I couldn’t,” said Bristowe tweeted in 2017. “He said he didn’t want people to get famous after his show.”
She explained that in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.
“I had an offer to make Dance with the stars and was told by Mike [Fleiss] I couldn’t, ”she said. I’ve been told by Mike that it’s bad for his brand and that he’s tired of people getting famous from his show. “
Bristowe eventually joined – and won – “Dancing With the Stars” a year after her “Bachelorette” colleague Hannah Brown was crowned the show’s mirror ball champion.
