It has made it’s first birthday

Today it is not an easy task for a company to get through its first year of business.

So Anstruth cider shop Aeble, founded by Frightened Rabbit drummer Grant Hutchison and his wife Jaye in 2021, won’t let its birthday go by without a celebration. On Saturday, April 30th, they have a day of free treats and tastings planned, and guests are invited to sample some ciders.

“The past year has flown by! We’re really fortunate to have so much support from friends and family, the local community, businesses and visitors, but it’s an ongoing learning curve that everyone has to experience in their early days as a business,” says Jaye. “We knew opening a niche store outside of a big city was a risk – add a toddler, a dog, a move and a global pandemic, it’s been a whirlwind, but we have no regrets. We love the lifestyle here, East Neuk is a place full of creativity and a passion for food and drink. We think that the more interesting companies that open here, the more people will want to visit and maybe be part of the community.”

Visit them on the day and taste Lanthorn, made in Fife by The Naughton Cider Co, Little Pomona Harvest and Brannland Pernilla, among others. “Everything delicious!” says Jaye. If you’re excited, ask about Aeble Cider Club’s new subscription service.

They will also offer sweet and savory goods from the Bowhouse’s new cafe, Baern, as well as chutney from their neighboring shop, Seaweed & Stuff.
