Janelle Arthur was a contestant on seasons 10, 11, and 12 of American Idol. The singer first appeared in season 10 and made it to the Hollywood round of the competition before being cut.
The singer made it to an extra round the next season, but she didn’t officially make it into the top 5 until the following year on season 12 of the competitive show. In the top 5, Arthur was removed from the competition, according to Idol Wiki.
Arthur continued to devote herself to music after her time with “American Idol” and has now signed a record deal, she said on Facebook.
Arthur announced that she has officially signed her first recording deal.
“I am grateful for this new trip with an incredible team,” she wrote. “I cannot thank my family and hardworking, dedicated manager Stephanie Maynard Gastley enough for their unwavering belief in me. Your encouragement and the love / support I’ve felt from my fans over the years are really what kept me going. “
She added, “I’ve always said that I would only sign one deal that was the RIGHT deal. Whatever I do in this industry, I’ll either do it right and honest or not at all. The Black Sheep Label Group has the same mission and the same high standards. “
In September 2021, Arthur announced that she was pregnant. She also opened up to People about a miscarriage she suffered in 2020.
“It’s hard to put into words what you’re going through because you have so many different emotions,” Arthur told the point of sale. “It was like my brain wasn’t prepared for the loss and sadness of all of this. I let myself cry and mourn. And then I just had to trust him. I just had to trust God’s timing. “
She announced that she is now pregnant and will be born on January 19, 2022. The baby is due on Dolly Parton’s birthday, which is a big deal for Arthur as she thinks Parton is her musical hero and has already worked with the star song “Hand Me Downs”, which Arthur wrote shortly after her time on “American Idol” wrote.
The music video for the song premiered with People in the pregnancy announcement article.
“There were scenes in the video where I didn’t want people to know I was expecting it,” explains Arthur, who wore a Flutter Dress dress for the big reveal. “And then there were scenes where I really had to relax my stomach because in the last three days in particular I really started to pop. You just want people to feel something as a songwriter, and this music video brings it even more to life. And having Dolly with me on top of that is just a career thing for me that I don’t know if I will ever be able to surpass everything that is so special. “
“American Idol” returns in early 2022 for the monumental 20 season.
