European Handball Championship Narrow start win for defending champion Spain

Spain started the European Handball Championship with a win. The 2018 and 2020 European champions prevailed against the Czech Republic in Bratislava on Thursday evening.

Defending champions Spain started the Handball European Championships in Hungary and Slovakia with a difficult victory. The European champion of 2018 and 2020 prevailed against the Czech Republic in Bratislava after a long fight with 28:26 (14:11), until three minutes before the end the encounter was still completely open.

Slovenia, semi-finalists of 2020, won in Group A in Debrecen against North Macedonia by a similar margin with 27:25 (13:10). In group C, Serbia clearly won against Ukraine with 31:23 (17:11), in group F Russia kept the upper hand against Lithuania with 29:27 (14:9).
