More than 90,000 new infections – seven-day incidence reaches new high

The Robert Koch Institute has given the incidence value as 470.6. The previous high was 452.4 last November. 286 new deaths were reported within 24 hours.

The incidence of new corona infections in Germany has reached a new high. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the seven-day incidence on Friday morning as 470.6. The day before, the value was 427.7. The previous high was 452.4 on November 29, 2021. The number of new corona infections in Germany also reached another daily high of 92,223 on Friday.

On Friday morning a week ago, the seven-day incidence was 303.4. The value quantifies the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants over a period of seven days.

The number of new infections was still 81,417 on Thursday. A week ago, 56,335 new infections were recorded.

As the RKI further announced, citing data from the health authorities, 286 new deaths related to the corona virus were counted on Friday. According to the latest information from the institute, the health authorities have recorded a total of 7,835,451 cases of infection since the beginning of the pandemic.

The total number of registered corona deaths in Germany rose to 115,337. The institute put the number of people in Germany who had recovered from an illness caused by the coronavirus at around 6,914,700.
