“Degrassi” revival in the works on HBO Max

The 10-episode first season of the Toronto-based series’ latest iteration is expected to premiere in the United States in 2023.

Jan 14 (News) – youth drama Degrassi is being revived – this time on HBO Max.

The showrunners are Lara Azzopardi, whose credits include Backstage, the brave guy and Maria kills people, and Julia Cohen, who worked on it Riverdale, A Million Little Things and The Royal.

“Series after series, the Degrassi franchise continues to leave an indelible mark on young viewers who seek trustworthy and authentic storytelling,” said Amy Friedman, director of children and family programming at Warner Bros., in a statement Thursday.[Producers] WildBrain continues to artfully capture high school life in an immersive format that can be experienced seamlessly on HBO Max.”

HBO Max has also secured the US rights for the entire 14-season library Degrassi: The next generation and will make it available on the platform this spring. It will also air on Cartoon Network at a later date.

the Degrassi The franchise began in 1979 and has grown to six shows and four made-for-TV movies that address important social issues such as teen pregnancy, racism, AIDS, eating disorders, mental illness, suicide, child abuse, learning disabilities, addictions and gender identity.
