According to a survey by the ZDF “Politbarometer”, the SPD remains the strongest party in Germany. While the remaining parties in the traffic light coalition lose slightly, the Union can easily gain ground.
The SPD clearly remains the strongest force in the current ZDF “Politbarometer”. According to the survey published on Friday by the Mannheim research group elections, 27 percent of those surveyed would choose the Social Democrats (minus one), and 22 percent (plus one) for the CDU/CSU. The Greens follow in third place with 16 percent (minus one).
The FDP also deteriorated by one point to eleven percent. Ten percent are predicted for the AfD, and six percent (plus one) for the Left Party.
The work of the new federal government is mostly rated positively. 65 percent of all respondents stated that Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) was doing a good job, only 17 percent said “rather poorly”. In addition to the supporters of the coalition parties, those of the CDU/CSU and the Left Party were mostly positive, only those of the AfD did not.
In the ranking of important politicians, however, former Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) is still in first place with a value of 2.5. Scholz follows with 1.9 (previously 2.1), Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck (Greens) with 1.4 (unchanged), SPD leader Lars Klingbeil with 1.1 (1.3) and Finance Minister Christian Lindner with 0.9 (1.0).
Only 40 percent of those surveyed expect that the designated CDU chairman Friedrich Merz will successfully lead his party into the future, 48 percent do not expect this. However, 68 percent of the supporters of the CDU/CSU expressed optimism.
69 percent named the corona pandemic as the most important topic at the moment, which clearly remains dominant. This is followed by climate protection with 33 percent.
44 percent (plus five) are satisfied with the current corona protection measures. 30 percent said the measures should be tougher (down twelve), 22 percent think the current measures are exaggerated (up six).
A clear majority of 62 percent (minus six) was still in favor of general vaccination. 36 percent (plus five) are against it. Supporters of the Greens (76 percent), the CDU/CSU (73 percent) and the SPD (73 percent) have the greatest approval. On the left, 53 percent are in favor and on the FDP 52 percent – on the AfD only ten percent.
Only 22 percent of those questioned are in favor of the EU classifying new nuclear power plants as “sustainable”, while 74 percent reject the EU Commission’s plan. 54 percent consider the German phase-out of nuclear power to be right and 40 percent wrong.
81 percent of those surveyed were in favor of re-electing Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. On the other hand, 13 percent.
For the ZDF “Politbarometer”, the Mannheim research group polled 1,128 randomly selected voters from Tuesday to Thursday. The error range was given as two to three percentage points.
