An angry tenant has allegedly blown up his own apartment in Spain with a gas leak after they realized they would be evicted, with debris destroying two cars in the town of Ponferrada

An angry tenant reportedly got revenge on his landlord by blowing up his own apartment as he was about to evict.

Just before 4 a.m., a loud explosion swept through Ponferrada, Spain, with mountains of debris littering a road and crushing cars.

The gas explosion happened at an apartment on the city’s Calle Alcón, with the roof blasting off the building and debris strewn across the street.

A man in his 30s is believed to have turned himself in to police after the blast, Ileon reports.

According to a source, the man, who lived alone, is about to be evicted and reacted angrily to the news.

Authorities have confirmed that one man is in custody.

The shocking explosion also caused a fire that completely destroyed the interior of the home.

Neighbors were evacuated for several hours while firefighters put out the fire and assessed the damage, but fortunately no injuries were reported.

Pictures show bricks and other debris all over the street, with at least two cars wrecked.

The city’s Citizen Safety Councilor, José Antonio Cartón, said the council is available to affected residents.

Police and firefighters are working to clear the area and residents have been allowed to return home.

Cheap housing is hard to come by, particularly in London, where a resident pays £800 a month for a one-bedroom flat in Holland Park where he has to climb a ladder to get to bed.

The property is right in the heart of the capital, but there is not much space in the one-bedroom apartment.

But the tiny apartment offers a bedroom above the bathroom, a wall equipped with kitchen appliances and a window at the end of the apartment.

The ladder, located next to the kitchen, leads the owner to the mezzanine where the bed is located.
