THATOne of the messages coming out of the shocking North Shropshire election result was neglect.

At first glance this was a relatively prosperous area, north of Shrewsbury, south of Chester and Wrexham, a rural farming community concentrated in five market towns. But the towns of Oswestry, Market Drayton, Ellesmere, Wem and Whitchurch signaled “enough”.

Sure, there have been questions about Downing Street parties despite the lockdown and rumors of the new Covid restrictions, but opposition parties were already heavily alluding to the sense of people in this previous Tory stronghold of feeling undervalued and overlooked.
