The famous beautician, whose clients include Kylie Minogue, tells me about her career and how she helps her clients glow
My story began 27 years ago. After suffering from acne as a teenager, I kept researching the best ways to treat my skin. During this time I developed a real passion for skin care. I initially qualified as a beauty and holistic therapist and quickly came to the conclusion that I wanted to continue my education and improve my skills in the areas of skin health and wellness.
For over 10 years I qualified in medical aesthetics, sports therapy, holistic therapies: aromatherapy, reflexology, kinesiology and laser technology.
After that I moved to Canada and specialized in holistic therapies. Healthy skin reflects general well-being – it’s a balance of what you put in and on your body. During this time I gained knowledge about the power of the ingredients.
This week’s 30-second interview is with celebrity facialist Lisa Harris, who counts Amanda Holden, Kylie Minogue and Lizzie Cundy among her clients.
Upon returning to the UK I came to the conclusion that if I was to run my own business I needed to acquire business acumen and spent the next few years working for global brands – Johnson & Johnson and RoC – sharing my experiences and ideas to use and demonstrate my facial exercises to support the launch of new innovative products.
After 12 years, I felt I had built a comprehensive knowledge base. Additionally, I had the advantage and experience of working with some of the best in class in clinical management. In 2006 I founded Lisa Harris Skincare Science which initially focused on providing natural skin care solutions. In 2009 I founded a clinical salon in Weybridge, Surrey and opened in 2015 in collaboration with Dr. Hilary Jones MBE a second location in London.
I take pride in staying true to my belief in the importance of natural skin care and using alternative treatments to create healthier skin without the use of harsh chemicals, botox, or fillers.
I take pride in building a wealth of clients who keep coming back to me. Many of them are celebrities, but all are equally important to me. I pride myself on having an excellent reputation locally, nationally and globally and I have many clients who travel from abroad to visit me.
Covid-19 had a financial impact on the business. It forced me to develop new ways of working and continue to help my clients
I used social media to keep in touch with clients, also did Zoom consultations and home delivered products. Many people have had mental issues during lockdown and I was glad they could come to me for support and that I could continue to help them.
I’ve also been using the lockdown time to work on a range of unique botanical and clean beauty products. Work on them is complete and I am now at the stage of raising investments.
I look forward to continuing to help my existing and new clients achieve healthy skin. I also can’t wait to launch my new unique skincare range and wellness supplements in 2022 and attract global retailers to stock them. I am also looking forward to expanding the business and expanding to another clinic in London.
